The theme of the Conference is "Common Law/Civil Law: The Future of Categories-- Categories of the Future". The Conference will consider whether, in view of ongoing procedural reforms, the age-old categories of common law and civil law continue to be relevant to procedural systems and, if not, whether new categories are emerging or whether, indeed, such categories will have a role to play in the future. As you will see from the Program, available at www.iapl2009.org., a spectacular group of scholars have agreed to participate as speakers and panelists. We will also welcome the lively participation of all attendees, including in "Reports from the Floor."  The organizers are Janet Walker of Osgoode Hall (Global Law Profssor at NYU Law School), Oscar Chase of NYU LAw School, Barry Leon of Torys LLP, Toronto and Federico Carpi, President of the IAPL.
