Moderated by Professor Mattias Kumm, this panel discussion will provide a brief introduction to job opportunities in legal academia across a range of jurisdictions, pre- and post- pandemic. Our guests—from the US, Canada, France/UK, Germany, Holland, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand/Australia, Mexico, Brazil and Chile—will discuss:
- how open are law schools to foreign academics in their respective countries
- are there certain law schools or subject areas that are more open than others?
- what are the particular requirements and expectations for entry level positions?
- Are there global trends in legal academic hiring and how does the pandemic affect them in the short and long runs?
