Eyal Benvenisti, LLB (Jerusalem) 1984, LLM (Yale) 1988, JSD (Yale) 1990, is Whewell Professor of International Law at the University of Cambridge and Anny and Paul Yanowicz Professor of Human Rights at Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law. He is also Project Director, the “GlobalTrust -- Sovereigns as Trustees of Humanity” research project, funded by an ERC Advanced Grant; Global Visiting Professor at New York University School of Law since 2003; Senior Fellow, NYU Institute for International Law and Justice; and visiting professor at several law schools including Harvard (1998-1999, 2004), Columbia (1999-2002), Michigan (2002), Pennsylvania (2006), Toronto (2010) and Yale (2015). In addition, he gave a special course at The Hague Academy of International Law in 2013. He was the inaugural professor of the “Max Planck Master Class Series in International Law" at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg. Between 1990 and 2002, he taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Law where he held the Hersch Lauterpacht Chair in Public International Law. He has been the recipient of several prizes including the Humboldt Research Award, the Fulbright-Yitzhak Rabin Award, and the Francis Deak Prize. He is an Associate Member of the Institut de Droit International (2011), serves on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of International Law, and International Law in Domestic Courts, and is founding Co-Editor of Theoretical Inquiries in Law (1997-2002, Editor in Chief 2003-2006).
