Sasha Aristotle was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She attended the University of Toronto for her undergraduate honours degree in History, Economics, and English and graduated with her college's Gold Medal for her specialist program. Sasha's research interests are broad and have spanned economic and gender inequality, human rights law, peacebuilding, and access to justice. As an undergrad, Sasha served as Editor-in-Chief for the undergraduate legal journal Intra Vires; conducted research for Amnesty International, the Canadian International Council, and the Canadian Centre for the Responsibility to Protect; and worked as a Co-Author and Consultant for the Equality and Human Rights Commission on a report which assessed the impact of their legal interventions and guided their five-year strategy.

After working in the private sector as a Legal and Compliance Analyst, Sasha pursued an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford. Concurrently, Sasha worked as a Co-Author and Research Assistant for the Legal Aid Practitioners Group's project on the Legal Aid Census, the largest survey of legal aid practitioners in England and Wales. She also served as a Project Lead on a legal aid project for the Oxford Development Consultancy and as a US Regional Correspondent on legal matters for the Oxford Human Rights Hub. Her graduate research concentrated upon how national human rights institutions in India and the UK operationalize domestic and international legal definitions of sex discrimination in their public writings. As an IILJ Scholar, Sasha is keen to study international law with a focus on global governance, human rights, access to justice, and economic policy.
